Aurobindo Pharma has told the stock exchanges that its wholly owned subsidiary Apitoria Pharma has completed the acquisition of the A1 Biochem Group’s contract research services business. The deal was first disclosed on 23 July 2026.
Apitoria now owns 80 percent of A1 Biochem Labs (India), while former promoter Dr Rajendra Gadikota keeps the remaining 20 percent. Through A1 Biochem USA Inc, the Indian company has taken full ownership of A1 Biochem Labs LLC in the United States.
The acquired business has more than 50 clients and has completed over 800 projects across India and the US. Aurobindo said the aim is to combine contract research with Apitoria’s manufacturing to offer an integrated contract research, development and manufacturing (CRDMO) service, widening what it can offer clients and keeping them for longer.
Market Research Outlook: Indian drug makers are racing to offer research and manufacturing under one roof as global clients cut supplier numbers. Buying an established research team with US presence gives Apitoria early stage projects that can later turn into commercial supply. It is a familiar route into the fast growing pharmaceutical contract manufacturing space.
