Tata Consumer Raises Capital Foods Stake to 80%

Tata Consumer Products has bought a further 5 percent of Capital Foods from Wildflower Private Trust, raising its holding to 80 percent. The purchase was completed on 1 September 2026 and disclosed to the stock exchanges.

Tata Consumer now owns 27,95,533 equity shares of ₹10 each in Capital Foods. It did not disclose the price paid for the latest tranche.

The company agreed in January 2024 to buy up to 100 percent of Capital Foods and closed the first 75 percent in February 2024, with the rest due within three years of that first deal. No new timeline was given for the remaining 20 percent.

Capital Foods owns Ching’s Secret and Smith & Jones, which sell sauces, noodles, soups, chutneys, masalas and cooking pastes.

Market Research Outlook: Ching’s Secret and Smith & Jones give Tata Consumer a ready made presence in sauces, noodles and cooking pastes. Moving to full ownership lets Tata Consumer run the brands through its own distribution and cut costs. It strengthens Tata’s position in food flavours and enhancers against both global and regional rivals.
