NLC India Renewables Wins 265 MW / 530 MWh Standalone Battery Storage Project in Haryana

NLC India Renewables Ltd (NIRL), a subsidiary of NLC India Ltd, has won a standalone battery energy storage project of 265 MW / 530 MWh in Haryana. The award came through a tariff based competitive bid run by SJVN Ltd with viability gap funding.

The final capacity charge is ₹2,35,000 per MW per month. At full capacity, that works out to about ₹6.2 crore a month, or roughly ₹75 crore a year.

NLC India disclosed the win to the stock exchanges on 30 September 2026. The filing did not give a commissioning date, contract term or project cost.

Market Research Outlook: Public sector power companies are moving fast into storage, and NLC’s win shows how quickly they are building portfolios beyond coal and lignite. The capacity charge is slightly below recent state awards, a sign of tight competition. Haryana’s growing solar inflow makes this kind of storage key to cutting renewable curtailment.
